WE BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS!
PROJECT INKSLINGER: Some years ago, when all the flooding took place in the upper Midwest, some concerned Mensans were horrified to hear that the town library had been destroyed in one city. They launched Project Inkslinger, asking all local groups to donate books to restock the library. The books arrived in droves - tens of thousands - and it took a giant tractor trailer to get them to the town. The books continued to come in, and we restocked even more libraries, one destroyed by fire. The effort continues and we are currently providing a new library on an Indian Reservation. THINK TANKS: Local groups occasionally offer their services to cities or organizations as a think tank to solve problems. And, guess what? Sometimes they actually provide some good ideas despite the saying that if you put a hundred Mensans together, you'll get a hundred and one ideas. Within Mensa, there are actually quite a few community service programs that help provide a great image for Mensa.
